2017, OCTOBER 12
We will have a new beach area very soon and it looks fantastic! It is called La Mer. This new destination is developed by Meraas and will spread across 9.5 million sq ft. Located in Jumeirah 1, it will incorporate four zones: the beach, the entertainment hub, the North Island and the South Island. The two islands will constitute upscale residential neighborhoods including beachfront villas. New restaurants, bars, cafes and hotels will open. What’s on magazine published that the first Andaz hotel in the middle east might set up in this spectacular location. The Centre headland will include high-quality beach amenities and the entertainment section. La Mer will feature beach sports, skate boarding and even an outside gymnasium! Meraas website states “the core value of the project is its leisure and entertainment hub”. After discovering Meraas’s previous projects, like Box Park and City Walk, we all know La Mer is going to be THE new Place-to-be for all beachgoers. We will update the website once this new beachfront spot opens up. _

Have you noticed something different in the Jumeirah beaches those days?
The crystal-clear water of the sea turned to a funny color!
However, do NOT worry this is not harmful.
In fact, Dubai Municipality posted on its Instagram the picture of the sea and mentioned: “The Environment Department confirmed that the change in sea color yesterday morning in some areas of Jumeirah beaches was due to one type of algal blooms (Trichodesmium erythraeum bloom) which is not harmful and will fade in the coming days. This conclusion was based on the tests carried out by a specialized technical team from the department.”
It is actually usual in tropical and subtropical ocean waters.
So, even if it’s not dangerous we would recommend to avoid those area during few days.
Dubai has plenty of beaches, have a look on Dubeach. It is the perfect opportunity to get to know other beaches and enjoy the warm waters of Dubai without any risks.

WHAT’S NEW FOR THE DUBAI BEACHES?
Written by Aurelie | 22.05.2017
Remember, it used to be prohibited to swim after sunset in the UAE, but since last night the rules have changed!
Indeed, thanks to the installation of two “Smart Power Poles”, tourists and residents are allowed to swim until midnight at Umm Suqeim 1 Beach, around one kilometer away from the Burj Al Arab. This makes Dubai, the first city in the UAE to offer a night swimming beach.
Those 12-meter Smart Poles are powered by wind and solar energy and provide enough light to illuminate the sea. The sensors trigger automatically the light, which will turn off at midnight.
The swimming area is marked by small red lighting floats and is controlled by lifeguards. It should stretch on 125 meters on the beach and 30 meters into the sea.
The poles were designed by D Idea Media, which also created the Smart Palms Wifi station and the Smart Changing Room in the same beach.
As a result, Umm Suqeim 1 Beach can be called today, the smartest beach in the world.
